High School Mission Trip to Georgia
Dates: July 11-16, 2010
We'll be doing work projects and leading VBS for 2 parishes in the small town of Millen, GA. Staying at Magnolia Springs State Park. We'll leave Sunday July 11th after 8am Mass and return late Friday night.
Vacation Bible School will run Monday -Friday for children from 2 parishes. We'll set up in the parish hall and decorate, lead music, teach the sessions, lead games and crafts, serve snacks and all the typical VBS stuff.
Work Projects will be light construction & painting etc - basically whatever the people need. Last year we built a porch and a deck. I'll know for sure which projects we have before June.
MIllen, GA is a town about the size of Whitesville. There is a Subway and a Dairy Queen, 2 gas stations, and a local grocery store but no Wal-Mart. Sr. Mary Ellen will be our contact there. She's a sweet, soft-spoken, elderly Glenmary Sister - you will love her!
We will stay at Magnolia Springs State Park in the group camp area in large bunkhouses. Think more like Brandon Springs than Gasper. Our meals will be in the large dining hall. To view pics... (click here)
Cost is $50 to help cover gas money and food cost. Money raised from our reverse raffle fundraiser dinner will cover the rest of the cost.
